Hi, Janet. I am so glad that I found your website! I am a new teacher and I have been reading Kyleen Beers' book . She endorses buying your book I am a new teacher and funds are limited at the moment, but I plan to buy the book as soon as I get my first paycheck. In the meantime, I am planning vocabulary lesson plans based on Kyleen's instructions.
Is there a chance that you will be coming to Dallas Texas for a conference? I will check back often to view your schedule.
I am looking forward to joining this profession of helping kids learn to read.

Thanks Janet for such an awesome week in Green Cove Springs, Florida. I have talked my husbands ears off about the workshops this week. So much so, he left to go out of town for four days!! The teachers from our school, Middleburg High, plan to get together and share,discuss, copy and "steal" all the things we've learned this week. Your love for reading inspires me to keep learning and aiming higher. Looking forward to a great year of teaching

I heard you speak at the SCIRA convention and was turned on to your warm style and excitement to children's literature and reading. I then signed up for the summer institute in Columbia. I have just finished and am still in awe. I have gained more knowledge than I thought possible in one week. I have bought many prof. books to read over the next month. I am sure my principal will say,"What happened to you over the summer?" I will say I have been blessed with growing professionally with Janet Allen, the best teacher I have ever met. You really make sense. Thank you hardly seems enough. I should probably say my students thank you,too. I have recently stepped out of the box and become curriculum coordinator at an elementary school ( 6 months). Next year I will have a new boss and our school will be a K-12 Unit school. I truly loved all the literature you shared for the middle and high school grades. Now I know I will be ready to start this new challenge. Are you going to have an institute next summer? I heard you speak at the SCIRA convention at Myrtle Beach, SC in February 2003. You are so personable and down-to-earth! Now when I read your books I realize that you truly know what it's like to be in the classroom where we are. I've learned so much from you. Thanks for your work! |
